We're hiring! Marketing manager

  • Full time or part time with a flexible work schedule
  • Hybrid location with 2+ days / week in our Cambridge office
  • £35,000 - £45,000 salary (depending on experience) plus benefits
  • 3 years + experience marketing digital services, digital products or technology services

We are looking for a marketing magician, someone who can take a lead on the full marketing mix from big projects to business as usual, from high level strategy to tactical implementation.

Our clients say that the work we do is amazing, and we love what we do. But we’ve never been the type of people to shout about it. Our reputation has grown organically through word of mouth and doing a good job. Now we feel it’s about time we share some of our success stories and show the world what we do.

About Us

Fluent is a digital product development agency, working on the web in a variety of disciplines to provide creative, clever solutions to tricky business problems. We take pride in getting to the real root of the problem - understanding what our clients want, and delivering what they need.

We're an elegant bunch (believe it or not), at least when it comes to our work. We don't believe in shortcuts, and it's one of the reasons so many of our clients keep coming back to us as their business grows. They know we'll do everything we can to help them thrive.

We care about creating a workplace for Fluenteers to thrive, too. We don’t have a formal management structure - or office politics - we work together in various combinations depending on the technical demands of each project.

Working at Fluent means you’ll enjoy a high-level of autonomy and have the chance to work with a friendly, incredibly accomplished bunch. That alongside a competitive pay and a host of benefits to reflect the work you do.

We have a no long-hours culture and our philosophy is to work smart, so while we get a kick out of doing our job, we value the hours outside of it too.

About you

You are a marketing manager, passionate about technology and familiar with marketing an agency, consultancy or professional services brand in the technology space. You deliver the full marketing mix, enjoying the responsibility of leading strategic and tactical marketing efforts whilst being comfortable working with senior teams. You will be responsible for crafting the marketing function from the ground up, working with the operations director to build a coherent marketing strategy and then delivering that strategy through a range of tactical initiatives.

You are comfortable working with and presenting to clients, getting to know their businesses, their buying cycle and creating a marketing strategy that appeals to the needs of similar businesses. We only bring on 2-3 new clients a year, because our work and relationships are deep and firmly integrated in our clients businesses and therefore sales cycles are long, our marketing strategy needs to reflect that.

You are a thinker and a doer, able to work autonomously whilst supported by a vibrant workplace culture and exciting client projects to promote.

You don’t have to be an expert at everything though, if you are the right fit but need support in a particular area we’ll help develop your skills whilst bringing in external resources for you to manage if needed.

A useful list of bullet points

You should definitely:

  • Have 3 years + of digital marketing in the technology space
  • Have experience of creating end to end strategic marketing plans aligned to support business goals
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of working with clients, developing relationships, understanding client business needs and creating marketing strategies accordingly
  • Have led brand refresh projects working with in house and external partners
  • Have executed social media campaigns across Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads
  • Have developed the skills to write engaging blog post content, sometimes of a highly technical nature
  • Be comfortable being the sole marketing contact, supported by senior team members

Bonus points for knowledge of:

  • How digital agencies or technology consultancies operate
  • Budgeting and budget management

In addition to the above you’ll need to be:

  • educated to degree level
  • legally able to work in the UK
  • able to work at both our office in Histon, Cambridge, and remotely in case of the occasional pandemic. We're still finding our feet with a mixed-mode of working to get the best all-round results for the team however we aim to spend at least 1-2 days per week in the office, more for those who want to

If this sounds like you, we’d love to speak to you.

In return

We can offer:

  • a super friendly team of experienced peers to work with
  • a good work-life balance with regular hours and a flexible schedule
  • a competitive salary of £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
  • pension, life insurance and wellbeing contributions
  • 23 days’ holiday a year, plus a flexible bank holiday entitlement
